About Casa Gránde Texas

The original (1917) historic old Sudan hotel recently renovated into a huge 5000 sq/ft single-family home. Now available back to the public for enjoyment!

Large open spaces leave many speechless when they walk in the door. Extra large bedrooms all with King Sized beds. Also large living rooms kids would love to enjoy with friends or family. Uniquely situated in a West Texas small town downtown with no neighbors to bother. Only 45 minutes to Lubbock Texas where the Texas Tech Red Raiders reside. The large kitchen can cook for a small army with many stoves and large kitchen countertops. If that doesn’t get you to want to cook, there is the Sunshine Café less than a minute’s walk away and an authentic Mexican restaurant less than a minute’s drive. The big skies of West Texas are something everyone needs to experience. On the hot summer days, there is a pool to enjoy and a basketball hoop to shoot.

Casa Gránde Texas is the perfect place to enjoy large family gatherings, small wedding venue, hunters, birthday & anniversary parties, baby & wedding showers, quinceañeras, a quiet honeymoon and much much more!

About Sudan

According to The Handbook of Texas, the area where the town is now located was once granted to the county in 1892 by the 77 Ranch, owned by S.B. Wilson and Wilson Furneaux. The town developed in 1917–1918 with a hotel (now the Casa Grande – The Old West Hotel) and service from the Santa Fe railroad, which had built a branch line from Lubbock, Texas, to Texico, New Mexico, in 1913. The land company manager and first postmaster, P.E. Boesen, suggested the town’s name in 1918. A gin was built in 1922 and a bank was established a year later. The town was incorporated in 1925, when the population was 600, up from a population of only 15 in 1920. The first of several grain elevators was also erected in 1925 and the Sudan News began publication. The population was 1,014 in 1930, 1,336 in 1950, 976 in 1970, and 1,091 in 1980. In 1990, it was 983. The population reached 1,039 in 2000. (source: Wikipedia)
